24 Feb 2016 Xiqu Centre theatre structure lifted to final position

A significant milestone was reached in the construction of the Xiqu Centre on 24 February, with the lifting of the main theatre structure to its final position at the top of the Xiqu Centre, 45 metres above Canton Road. The process of lifting the 2,400 tonne steel structure was carried out in two phases. A distinctive feature of the design of the Xiqu Centre is the location of the main theatre at the top of the building allowing the space below to be utilized for learning, rehearsals, dining and retail, and providing a large public atrium. The completion of this technically complex operation now offers a clear impression of this aspect.
