Jacques Herzog, Herzog and de Meuron, M+ Building Architect

9 January (Thur) 4:30 – 6:00pm

In June 2013, Herzog & de Meuron with TFP Farrells and Ove Arup & Partners HK were appointed as the M+ building design team. As the exhibition, ‘Building M+: The Museum and Architecture Collection’ will reveal the ongoing development of the museum building, we have invited Jacques Herzog to talk about Herzog & de Meuron’s practice, approach and winning proposal for M+ in a public talk.

Herzog & de Meuron is a leader in museum architecture, urban cultural vitalisation and public spaces, as demonstrated in landmark projects such as the Tate Modern in London and the National Stadium (“Bird’s Nest”) in Beijing. Herzog & de Meuron is a partnership led by five Senior Partners – Jacques Herzog, Pierre de Meuron, Christine Binswanger, Ascan Mergenthaler and Stefan Marbach. Founded in 1978, Herzog & de Meuron have designed a wide range of projects from the small scale of a private home to the large scale of urban design. While many of their projects are highly recognised public facilities, such as their stadiums and museums, they have also completed several distinguished private projects including apartment buildings, offices and factories. The practice has been awarded numerous prizes including “The Pritzker Architecture Prize“ (USA) in 2001, the “RIBA Royal Gold Medal“ (UK) and the “Praemium Imperiale“ (Japan), both in 2007.
