HKRep Black Box

The HKRep Black Box Theatre was first used as a performance space in July 1989, originally known as the Sheung Wan Civic Centre HKRep Rehearsal Room. The venue was renamed as the HKRep Black Box in 1998 by Artistic Director Emeritus Dr. Daniel Yang for both rehearsing and performing. Since 2010, it was decided to transform as a permanent performance venue.

The HKRep Black Box provides a platform for young theatre practitioners to create and present their works. It is also a space to allow local and overseas artists to discover, exchange, research and examine myriad performance possibilities.  The flexible auditorium can adapt different settings, allowing theatre artists freedom for expressions.
