Intensive Workshop on the Feldenkrais Method for Performers

“Feldenkrais has studied the body in movement with a precision that I have found nowhere else.”

— Peter Brook, Stage and Film Director

“Through awareness we can learn to move with astonishing lightness and freedom — at almost any age — and thereby improve our living circumstances, not only physically — but emotionally, intellectually and spiritually.”

— Moshé Feldenkrais

The Intensive Workshop on the Feldenkrais Method for Performers is one of the warm-up events in the The Foundations of Performance. During the workshop, Bonni Chan and Sean Curran, the Artistic Directors of Theatre du Pif, introduce the Feldenkrais Method and share how they integrate it into their professional work and how it has helped them enhance their theatre making and performance.

The Feldenkrais Method is a sophisticated, enjoyable sensory-motor approach to learning that has been used by many performers, directors, acting teachers and musicians — including Peter Brook, Lee Strasberg, Yoshi Oida, Whoopi Goldberg, Kate Winslet, Neil Young, Yehudi Menuhin and Yo-yo Ma — to improve their stage presence and performance skills, and enhance their creativity and acting techniques.

The method involves a range of diverse, ingenious movement experiments and body awareness exercises that help performers release limiting and habitual tensions and reduce effort and strain. The practice leads to an increase in awareness and sensitivity that can be extended to fellow performers and to the environment, and help individuals to truly listen and be present on stage.

This intensive 4-hour workshop is specifically designed for actors, directors, dancers and musicians.
