Mini Flower Plaque Workshop
Studio, Xiqu Centre , 20.07.2019
Since the 1950s, large, colourful flower plaques have been used in Hong Kong to mark celebrations for Chinese New Year and temple festivals. Traditionally made of bamboo, the special crafting technique used to create these decorative plaques is a skill that has been recognised as part of Hong Kong’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
During this 2-hour workshop, the tutor Chan Sing introduces the history and art of flower plaque making in Hong Kong, and leads participants through a step-by-step process to create a mini flower plaque decorated with individual auspicious quotes.
