This May, the fourth annual Producers’ Network Meeting & Forum (PNMF) takes place in Hong Kong. Under the theme “Championing Innovation”, the event examines programme planning, venue operation, audience development and cross-disciplinary collaboration in four days of Closed-door Meeting and a public forum.

During the event, three international industry representatives share experiences from their respective fields. Emma Gladstone, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Dance Umbrella in the UK examines how the long-established dance festival successfully rebranded itself to align its programmes more closely with current trends in British dance and appeal to a wider contemporary audience. Independent curator Crystal D talks about working with business organisations in China to co-curate events like the Xintiandi Festival in Shanghai and promote high quality arts programmes to a mass public audience. And Taiwanese curator, critic and composer Lin Fang-Yi investigates the role and position of contemporary composers in Asia in light of current developments in cross-disciplinary collaborations.

In addition, after a year of significant progress, the recently established Asia Network for Dance (AND+) and the European Dancehouse Network (EDN) will continue the conversation initiated last year, and explore new possibilities for future collaborations. We also invite PNMF participants to share concepts for future creative projects and explore the potential for new international collaborative projects.

PNMF was established by the West Kowloon Performing Arts team in 2015. Since then, the annual event has become a recognised platform for promoting cross-disciplinary collaborations in the Asia-Pacific region, bringing together performing arts professionals from around the world to explore issues related to the changing role and position of producers, and regional variations in artistic practice, audiences and arts ecologies.
