Open Audition of Tea House Rising Stars Troupe, Tea House Theatre, Xiqu Centre (Stage Two)

West Kowloon Cultural District is dedicated to conserve, promote and develop the art of Cantonese Opera and other theatrical genres.

Tea House Theatre in Xiqu Centre is set to open in early 2019. The decor of the 200-seat theatre draws reference from that of traditional Chinese teahouse blended with modern architectural feature. We offer a hand-picked repertoire of work, presented with fine dim sum and Chinese tea, to give audiences a new perspective on this ancient art form.

As the first venue-based performance troupe at Xiqu Centre, “Tea House Rising Stars Troupe” presents high quality xiqu performance regularly. We are now recruiting talents to join us as performers and musicians (yangqin, dizi and xiao, pipa and zheng, cello, sheng and percussion). We offer comprehensive training and performance opportunities to young and passionate professionals.

As a Performer (contract) or Musician (contract), you will:

  • be a supporting role or perform music in the performances
  • assist in organising and promoting the troupe performance
  • collaborate with our partners on art education
  • observe a six-day working week on shift basis including weekend and public holiday

      Eligibility:

  • Applicants shall be a Hong Kong resident aged between 18 to 45 years old
  • With three or more years' related working experience
  • Working experience in Arts Company and passion for Cantonese opera are preferred

  1. All related information will be kept up to 12 months and all personal data will be destroyed afterwards.

Adverse Weather Arrangements:
