Street Dance - Hongboy @ Rhythm Attack

Curatorial Statement

To carry forward the mission left incomplete at last year’s Freespace Fest due to the rainy weather, at Take A Leap we hope to bring to the audiences a brand new street dance experience with dance performances, DJ live and dance battles and let the energy and spirit of street dance take over the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade.

Biography

Ten-member dance crew Rhythm Attack is a prolific group in the local dance scene in Hong Kong and has triumphed in many competitions, including Evolution 4 Hong Kong, B.O.T.Y, and the ONE Dance Competition. They are driven by the concepts of “metre” and “attack”, which form the foundation of how they approach the art of dance. Over the last decade, they have performed on numerous international stages. Their past performances include: East Asia Music's Very Merry X'mas Canton Road Street Party, Disco Hot's Venue Partnership Scheme and various concerts with Andy Lau and Eason Chan. Rhythm Attack also organised the Mind Regeneration Dance Competition from 2008 to 2010.

Parkour - Hong Kong Parkour Association

Curatorial Statement

After Freespace Fest

The response and support we received from the audience in Freespace Fest 2013 was overwhelming and deeply moved us. Even in the adverse weather, we found ourselves surrounded by countless audiences – waiting and watching, many even expressed the eagerness to participate. We believe that if we are dedicated in sharing our experience, parkour will reach out to a wider audience. With the positive feedback from last year’s Freespace Fest, we decided to stage a comeback performance this year.

In Take A Leap, there will be parkour performances and workshops that aim at encouraging public participation and engagement. Through presenting various parkour performances and activities, we hope to convey the spirit of parkour to everyone.
