TechBox – art TALKS tech

Overview

Installations, performance and artist sharings re-exploring contemporary technology and art practices

Description

This September, The Room at Freespace becomes a participatory laboratory where young local artists conduct creative experiments with technology and art. In collaboration with the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts (The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts), Freespace presents art TALKS tech – part of our new TechBox platform for artwork-based inquiry and dialogue – to revisit the concept of technology as a medium of expression.

The two-event series presents artist sharings, performance, installations and open discussions around new and revisited media art creations. Invited artists and guest facilitators include media artist, multimedia designer and mechatronics engineer/designer Kenny Wong, sound artist, sound designer and mixing engineer Jacklam Ho, sound designer and researcher Fiona Lee, media art curator, writer, producer and educator Joel Kwong, and a team of students from the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts.

About TechBox
TechBox is a four-year collaborative platform established between Freespace and the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. The platform brings together media artists, theatre designers, faculty members and students to explore new frontiers of technology and performance, and devise experimental creations in a technological context. Our art TALKS tech events mark the start of a series of annual showcases presenting the results of research and experiments by artist-researcher teams.
