Dr Adrian Cheng founded the K11 Art Foundation (KAF) in 2010, the first non-profit and non-state-owned art foundation in Mainland China to incubate young contemporary Chinese artists and curators, and to promote public art education. KAF provides a creative platform for artistic talents to showcase their works to a wider audience, both at home and on the international stage.
Dr Cheng is a Board Member of the Public Art Fund of New York and MoMA PS1, Trustee of the Royal Academy of Arts, Board Director of the National Museum of China Foundation, Director of CAFAM Funds of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Visiting Committee Member of the Department of Asian Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Member of the International Circle of Centre Pompidou, Member of TATE’s International Council, Board Member of Asia Art Archive and Trustee of Design Trust, etc. In 2013, he set up an annual Master of Arts degree full scholarship programme in collaboration with the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. He is among the ArtReview Power 100 list of the contemporary art world’s most powerful figures for three consecutive years since 2014. He is also listed as ARTnews’ Top 200 collectors in 2015 and 2016.
Dr Cheng is the Executive Vice-chairman and General Manager of New World Development Company Limited, an Executive Director of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited, New World Department Store China Limited and International Entertainment Corporation; and a Vice-chairman of Modern Media Holdings Limited, and a Non-Executive Director of Giordano International Limited.
