Popular since the early 20th century, Yue opera is traditionally performed by all-women troupes. In this creative sharing session, the Shanghai Yue Opera House discuss their immersive production Destiny of Rebirth – a contemporary reimagining of a lyrical work about female identity written by an 18th-century woman poet. Merging past and present perspectives, the avant-garde production incorporates a combination of modern aesthetics and stage elements and traditional Yue opera techniques. The session includes video excerpts from the play, and offers audiences the chance to exchange questions and ideas with the artists and experts.

Guest speakers will participate in the sharing sessions via live-stream.
