Freespace Happening wraps up the season with two days filled with everything you love – great music, literature, theatre, market stalls and creative workshops – plus two fun camping events that let you spend the night under the stars in the Nursery Park and contemplate your place in the universe!

Our music line-up features some exciting new and established trend-setters, like local bands Qiu Hong, ANWIYCTI and New Youth Barbershop and overseas guests Wedance from Korea, The Murky Crows from Taiwan and Zhaoze from Mainland China.

For those of you wishing to make the most of the weekend outdoors, our two overnight camps offer two alternatives: “Imperfect Camping” organised by ohmykids with workshops, games, storytelling and stargazing sessions for families with children under the age of 12, and “Literature Camp” organised by The House of Hong Kong Literature where you can indulge in late-night conversations and storytelling sessions with invited poets or writers.

The House of Hong Kong Literature also presents a selection of fun activities on both afternoons: “Writing on Leaves – a Wander in the Park”, a literary guided tour featuring poems inspired by the different plants in the Nursery Park; “Poems GO!”, a treasure hunt for poems hidden around the park; and the very popular Potted Poetry Workshop, where you can make your own ceramic pot inscribed with poetry.

On the South Lawn, you can admire the creative ideas of the young stall holders at the ohmykids market, pick up some creative skills of your own with local artist Rainbow Leung at the One Of A Kind Workshop at the M+ Rover Travelling Creative Studio, or learn some basic martial arts kicks and turns at a free workshop led by instructors of the Cha Duk Chang Children’s Cantonese Opera Association.

Dog lovers, dog owners, and parents who would like their kids to learn how to behave safely around dogs should head to the “Pals with Pups” talk and explore the dos and don’ts of making friends with dogs. And nature lovers can explore the plants and trees in West Kowloon by joining our Nursery Park tree tour and workshop.

And don’t forget, while you’re walking in the park, browsing our regular handicraft market, or relaxing on our lovely lawns, remember to look out for FM Theatre Power’s interactive, improvised theatre sessions where you could be instantly transformed from a member of the audience into a performer or director!

Before you come, download our updated Freespace Happening App to check out what’s on at our handicraft markets and listen to great music on the new Music Player! And if you’re staying overnight – remember to bring an extra battery for your phone!
