Reading under the Sky

Bring a favourite book (or two), pick the book you’d like to adopt and join other booklovers for a literary afternoon. Every month, there is a guest sharing session. This month, we invite poet Kitty Hung (on Saturday) and theatre actress Prisca Lo (on Sunday) to share their reading interests and experiences.

Divination By Poetry

The House of Hong Kong Literature’s popular fortune-telling booth returns to Freespace Happening. Join us and have your questions answered by literary experts skilled at reading zodiac signs and horoscopes, and take home a small souvenir!

This month’s fortune teller is Hong Kong poet and publisher Keith Liu, the author of two poetry anthologies: Not Even the Sound of Blossom and The Beach is as Quiet as a Stopped Clock.

Reading on the Grass

Bring along a book to the bookcrossing and choose a book you would like to adopt! If you don’t bring anything, you can still borrow a book that someone else has shared and read it on the lawn.

Requirements for books:

  • We welcome books in Chinese and English.
  • Books should be in good condition.
  • We only accept legal copies of books.
  • Magazines, newspapers and textbooks are not accepted.
  • Books with obscene, violent or offensive content are not accepted.

Book crossing guidelines:

  • You are free to exchange as many books as you want.
  • We suggest that you take away the same number of books as you brought.
  • Please bring your own bag(s).
  • If you do not have a book to exchange but there is something you are interested in at the Library, you can read the book at Freespace Happening and return the book to the Library before leaving.

Our ‘Literature Gachapon’ capsule vending machine offers beautifully illustrated miniature poems and small, poem-inspired charms for you to take home. Capsules are $10 each.

  • Collect a wish card from the ‘a nice market’ booth.
  • Write down your wishes and goals.
  • Keep the ticket stub, put the wish card into the box and make a wish.
  • Revisit your dreams and goals by collecting your Freespace Timehub wish card at Freespace Happening’s ‘a nice market’ on 9 or 10 March 2019.

Nice Partner Yoga Workshop

Looking for new ways to connect with your children or partner? Join us for an outdoor partner yoga workshop and learn simple yoga poses for two while you take in the beautiful scenery of the Art Park and the refreshing sea breeze. No experience required. Suitable for families and couples.

Please note:

  • Participants are required to bring their own yoga mats, towels and water bottles. Please wear comfortable clothing appropriate for movement.
  • No changing room and shower facilities are provided.
  • No cloakroom service is available. Please take care of your personal belongings.
  • No age limit. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Participants must ensure they are medically and physically fit to participate in the workshop.
  • Participants should register at the ‘a nice market’ booth five minutes before the workshop starts. Those arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted. No refund will be provided.
  • The fee for walk-in registrations is $150 per pair and $75 per individual.
  • If the workshop is cancelled due to rain, inclement weather or other special situations, it will be rescheduled and held on 15 December at Yuji. Yoga’s studio in Jordon. Participants will be notified of the supplementary class arrangement by email. No refund will be made for participants unable to attend the supplementary class.

Christmas Village: Printing with Ceramic Stamps

Come along to our Christmas Village and decorate your own Christmas cards using festive ceramic printing stamps. When you’ve finished your cards you will also be able to post them to share with your friends. The pretty ceramic stamps are made by the students of Sam Shui Natives Association Lau Pun Cheung School who trained as part of the Artists with Disability Ignition Partnership Scheme.

Storytelling: Deliver letters with Kingfisher the Postman

Would you like to help Kingfisher the Postman delivery his letters? This month, the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society shares the story of Kingfisher the Postman as he makes his delivery rounds and visits his animal friends. After the storytelling session, the postman’s little helpers will all receive a small surprise treat!

Volunteering: Help Our Dogs

This afternoon volunteering programme is an ideal way to lend a hand to the staff and dogs of Hong Kong Dog Rescue. If you’re a dog lover, but you’re unable to commit to becoming a regular volunteer at a homing centre, come along and help out with feeding, grooming and walking some of our lovable dogs.

Park Tour and Workshop

Join our “Park Tour and Workshop” for an introduction to the Art Park and a closer look at the trees and plants growing there.
