LED Light Workshop: Create an Auspicious Cloud
Atrium, Xiqu Centre , 21.02.2021
Decorative clouds and cloud patterns are a familiar feature of traditional Chinese art, architecture and embroidery. These auspicious symbols signify good luck (in Mandarin the word for cloud – yun – sounds like the word for good fortune), heaven and life-giving rain. According to legend, clouds were created by the breath of dragons and were the vehicles of heavenly deities.
In this 30-minute hands-on workshop, participants create an LED neon light sign in the shape of an auspicious cloud, and learn more about the use and symbolism of cloud patterns in Chinese traditional theatre.
