M+ Data Design Hackathon
A Hall Studio, Tai Kwun , 31.08.2018 to 01.09.2018
M+ presents its first-ever data design hackathon on 31 August and 1 September, as part of ‘M+ Matters: Art and Design in the Digital Realm’. During this two-day event, designers, artists, technologists, and others are invited to examine how content from the M+ Collections might meaningfully add to open-source knowledge bases and be activated through new research and creative projects. Participants are encouraged to use data visualisation techniques to develop insights into the state of visual culture in Asia and to define opportunities for new connections across material and new conversations across disciplines.
To coincide with the event, M+ is releasing its first set of open data on the M+ Collections, available through the M+ GitHub repository, and the first iteration of its public API. In the coming months, M+ will continue to expand the data set and enrich the available content.
No knowledge of coding is required to participate in this hackathon, and any out-of-the-box visualisation software and design tools can be used.
