In 2013, Wendi received a two-year mentorship grant from the National Arts Council Singapore to study with Chinese filmmaker Ying Liang. In 2015, together with film producer Jeremy Chua, she co-founded Cinemovement, a platform for creative opportunities in dance and film practices. Elysa Wendi graduated with an MFA (Distinction) in Choreography from HKAPA in 2015. She currently works between Hong Kong and Singapore.
Ma Ka Yue Trista
Film director, performer, visual artist and art director, Ma Ka Yue Trista explores the possibilities of theatrical aesthetics in film. Her video work Nothing’s Gonna Change My World was awarded Best Cinematography at the Fresh Wave 2013 – International Short Film Festival in Hong Kong, and shown as part of the 2014 Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival and the 2014 Hong Kong Week in Taiwan. Fish out of water (2010) for which Ma acted as director and scriptwriter, was awarded Best Creativity at the Fresh Wave 2010 – International Short Film Festival in Hong Kong and was selected for screening at the 2012 Santa Monica Teen Film Festival and at Clockenflap 2014 in Hong Kong. Ma has performed in over 20 theatre productions in Hong Kong, including the highly acclaimed productions Western Xia Hotel and Landscape of Ouz.
Cross-disciplinary Hong Kong artist Remu Iwai (Kong Wai Remus Ng) is the creative chief for the arts group room 1224 & associates. Exchanging and transforming ideas from different disciplines, including site-specific theatre, film montage theory, and even fantastical inventions like Rube Goldberg machines, he explores work that touches on themes such as the human condition, vanishing cities and personal memories.
Recent works include, the experimental dance video X Exit – Useless Machine (WRO Media Art Biennale 2017, Poland), the dance film Soul is just a Fragment of Ether (2017, created during Artist-in-Residency in Malakta Art Factory, Finland), the performance Hemispherical Red and Black – A 2047 Odyssey (2016, Hong Kong), the mockumentary No Such Place (2013, a Hong Kong-Wales collaborative interdisciplinary project in Chapters Arts Centre, Cardiff, UK) and the experimental video I am looking at you looking at me looking∞ (2011, Hong Kong).
