After wowing Hong Kong audiences in May 2019 with a rare performance of all four parts of the classic production Four Dreams in the Camellia Hall, the award-winning performers of the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe return to the Xiqu Centre this spring with a showcase of three classic works – Ringing the Palace Bell, a philosophical tale of war, The Story of the Jade Hairpin, a romantic tale of love, and The Outburst of a Shrew, a comic tale of marriage.

Renowned for their skills in the total theatre practice of singing, acting, recital and martial arts, the members of Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe span three generations of experience and expertise. This year, the charismatic and talented young members of the troupe join us for what is sure to be another spectacular treat.
