The Guangdong Cantonese Opera Institute II Troupe brings some of its most celebrated productions to Hong Kong, including the new adaptation Legend of the White Snake, the period Marquis Lanling and Hong Kong Cantonese opera playwright So Yung’s masterpiece, The Story of Pan Jinlian.
Founded in 1958, the Guangdong Cantonese Opera Institute is the largest Cantonese opera theatre troupe in the region. In the past, the troupe has been led by prominent Cantonese opera artists Ma Shizeng (former director), Luo Pinchao (former deputy director) and Pak Kui-wing (former artistic director).
