In light of the current situation, Encountering Ryuichi Sakamoto due to take place from 18 to 20 December 2020 (Friday to Sunday) has been cancelled. For more information please see our Ticketing Arrangements page or contact us at (852) 2200 0022, ticketinfo@wkcda.hk.

This September, music legend Ryuichi Sakamoto was set to meet Hong Kong audiences for the first time in over a decade with a live presentation of his work dis·play at Freespace. While travel restrictions mean that Sakamoto is unable to perform live in Hong Kong this year – dis·play will now take place in 2021 – we have curated an alternative weekend of live music performances, screenings and installations of work by and about Sakamoto specially for his Hong Kong fans.

The programme includes an installation of incomplete – a new online series of music and videos produced in collaboration with 12 international musicians, film screenings about Sakamoto’s life and work, live performances of his music interpreted by local musicians, and an interactive Communication Wall where visitors can leave messages and questions for Sakamoto to respond to.
