This November, Hong Kong’s independent music scene makes its debut at the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival 2017, with local bands ANWIYCTI (A New World if You Can Take It) and GDJYB invited to take part as the city’s first representatives!
Both bands came to the attention of Grimur Atlason, manager of the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival, when they played at a music showcase organised for participants of our Producers’ Network Meeting Forum (PNMF) this May. As a presenter at the forum, Grimur was impressed by the high quality of their artistic innovation, and keen to extend an invitation to perform at his legendary festival.
Founded in 1999, and hailed as a premiere international showcase for new music, the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival is an annual 5-day music festival held in Reykjavik, Iceland. An important landmark in the music industry, the festival presents new music from established and up-and-coming artists both from Iceland and around the world. Performances are held at venues around Reykjavik, and this year’s headlining bands include JFDR, Emiliana Torrini and the Colorist, Fleet Foxes, Mumford & Sons and more.
