Seminar: Face to Face with Ann Hui
Over four decades working in Hong Kong, Ann Hui has defined a career that is both wide-ranging and focused in its scope. She began by directing one-hour dramas for Television Broadcast Limited, the Independent Commission Against Corruption, and Radio Television Hong Kong. Her first feature film, The Secret (1979), positioned her as a leading figure of the Hong Kong New Wave. Her films Boat People (1982), Summer Snow (1995), The Way We Are (2008), and A Simple Life (2011) are recognised as key works in the history of Hong Kong cinema, and she continues to make films to this day. This dialogue with Ann Hui addresses her creative life through the eight films selected for this programme.
