New Works Forum: ‘Social Acupuncture’ in the Tai Ping Shan Area
How do artists engage local communities and improve their shared culture in a changing society? Join an open house gathering at the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences on 23 August, focusing on community art projects in the Tai Ping Shan area.
Darren O’Donnell, Artistic Director of Mammalian Diving Reflex (Canada) and local artists (from the fields of theatre, dance, visual and media arts) are exploring the Tai Ping Shan area in a five-day intensive workshop in which they engage the local community to talk, think, feel, and be inspired to create socially-engaged artwork. In this open forum, Darren and the workshop’s participants will share their inspiration and discoveries made in creating community-based works that draw attention to their common issues, bring people together and strengthen community connections.
All are welcome to join and members of the Tai Ping Shan community are encouraged to come and share their thoughts.
