SHOWTIME! Launching West Kowloon’s Artistic Strategy for Performing Arts
Asia Society Hong Kong Center , 27.10.2018
In less than six months, West Kowloon’s Art Park and two major new performing arts centres, the Xiqu Centre and Freespace, will be open and buzzing!
In this free talk, Alison M Friedman, West Kowloon’s Artistic Director, Performing Arts shares the artistic vision and strategies for our new venues – the Xiqu Centre, a contemporary gateway to the ancient art form of Chinese traditional theatre, and Freespace, Hong Kong’s new centre for contemporary performance. Join us to find out how the Xiqu Centre and Freespace will transform Hong Kong’s creative landscape, how Xiqu Centre programming embraces traditional Cantonese opera and so much more, and how Freespace and the Art Park will make Hong Kong an important stop of the international touring circuit map. Alison M Friedman will also share some of the projects lined up in partnership with Hong Kong’s diverse performing artists and groups, and the planning underway for the next venues opening in the coming years.
