The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Hong Kong Composers Scheme provides a unique platform and opportunity for young local composers to deepen their experience in orchestral writing. Aiming at widening the vision of emerging composers and nurturing local talent in creating orchestral work.

For this year’s scheme, each of the six participating composers works closely with the scheme mentor, esteemed international composer Christian Mason, to develop a new orchestral piece. The fruition of a monthslong creative process involving participant selection. After being selected last year, they attend a series of workshops to advance the creation of composition. The emerging composers refine and polish the work under the mentorship of Mason, to present the final work at the showcase concert.

The premiere of the six new pieces is at this public working session and showcase, performed by musicians from The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Don't miss this rare opportunity to get a sneak peek at the orchestral creative process and the artistry of emerging local talents!

In addition to the six orchestral pieces of the scheme, the concert will further demonstrate the multifaceted possibilities of orchestral sound by performing Christian Mason’s Eternal Return, as well as fine works by two local composers, including Steve Ho's Kung Fu Rhapsody, featuring pianist Warren Lee, and Lo Hau-man's Saxophone Concerto, Aquilae, featuring saxophonist Jacky Leung.
