This online programme is designed for secondary students to enjoy Cantonese opera at school or at home.
The 30-minute programme – a recorded version of the live student matinee performances and tour – includes a Cantonese opera excerpt performance, a Cantonese opera song, a music ensemble performance and a short tour of the Xiqu Centre. All performances are presented by the Xiqu Centre’s Tea House Rising Stars Troupe. During the recording, narrators guide students through each segment of the programme, offering insight on the art form, its history and cultural significance today.
Two accessible versions of the programme are also available, one with audio description, the other with Sign language, theatrical interpretation and accessible captions.
A house programme and learning packs have also been created to support learning and teaching.
