A veteran Cantonese opera performing artist. He has been deeply connected with the art throughout his life, and has been dedicating to the inheritance and promotion of Cantonese opera. Having won numerous awards, including the “Bronze Bauhinia Star” and the “Award for Outstanding Contribution in Arts”, over the years, he is also currently Visiting Associate Professor of the Department of Music of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Artistic Director of “One Table and Two Chairs Charitable Foundation”, and Director of the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association.

A veteran Cantonese opera actor. Having practiced the art under Maestros Lau Shun, Choo Ngai-kong, Lau Wing-chuen and Yam Tai-fan, he founded several Cantonese opera troupes for performance, at the same time being involved in scriptwriting various new libretti, studio recorded numerous opera titles, and participated in stage plays and TV dramas. Since 2012, he started to become the Artistic Director of the Venue Partnership Program at Yau Ma Tei Theatre (Cantonese Opera Young Talent Showcase). In 2013, he was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the Home Affairs Bureau. He is currently the Vice-Chairman of Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong (CAAHK), Chairperson of the “Chinese Traditional Performing Arts Group”, and committee member of the West Kowloon Xiqu Centre and of the 11^th session of the Guangdong Theatre Association. He also served as a committee member of the Cantonese Opera Development Fund, Chairman of the Xiqu Group of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, and a member of the Audience Building Scheme of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. In 2016, he was awarded the MH Honorary Medal by the Hong Kong SAR Government. Lung was also presented the "Artist of the Year Award" in 2021 by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council for his continuous contributions to the art.

At the age of thirteen, Nam Fung followed Wu Xiyi, Tan Peishan and Fen Juhua to learn performing skills and the northern-style opera frameworks. In 1962, Drums along the Battlefield by the Hing Sun Shing Troupe made her first debut on the stage. In 1963, she became the apprentice under Wong Jyt-seng and learned Cantonese opera art. Later, under Wong Jyt-seng’s introduction, she participated in the performance of Hing Hung Kai Troupe with Nam Hung, and began to use "Nam Fung" as her stage name.

Nam Fung worked as a TV artist from 1974 to 1980, and subsequently in the early 1980s, she established the status of the second leading female role in large- and medium-sized troupes. From time to time, she was also employed in small and medium-sized opera troupes as the leading actress. By the 1990s, she had gradually established her status as the leading female performer in large-scale troupes.

In the 1980s, she joined the Chung Sun Sing Troupe, and in 1994 she performed as the leading actress in Mystery of the Red Silk Shoes under the Fung Seng Fai Troupe. In 1995, she formed the Tan Fung Cantonese Opera Troupe and organized collaborative performances with Zhanjiang Cantonese Opera Troupe from Mainland China. In 1999, she continued to establish Lung Ka Fung Cantonese Opera Troupe with Lee Lung. Over the years, the Cantonese opera troupes that were under collaboration also included Kam Lee Loi, Sum Mei, Yam Fung, Lung Fung, Yat Yuet Sing, Kam Ying Wah, Cantonese Opera Place, Hon Fung Cantonese Opera Institute, Sun Fung Wong, Tung Shing, Fung Ching Ling, etc.

Nam Fung has acted in representative Cantonese operas in ancient settings, including: Four Beauties Series - Consort Yang, Four Beauties Series - Xi Shi, Prime Minister Installation of the Six States and Seizing the King, just to cite a few.

Vong Seng-pan began to learn Cantonese opera at the Youth Cantonese Opera Training Centre of the Macau Federation of Neighborhood Associations at the age of nine. He once performed Double Speared Lu Wenlong and Zhou Yu at the Macau Arts Festival, and later performed The Double Speared Lu Wenlong in Guangzhou, where he was instructed by the famous Cantonese opera practitioner Hongxiannü. After finishing his studies, he was recommended by Lung Koon-tin to participate in the "Cantonese Opera Young Talent Showcase" at the Yau Ma Tei Theatre. Thus he started to embark on his career in Hong Kong and became a full-time Cantonese opera actor. He studied under Guan Shizhen, Waden Tsai, Wong Sing-kwan, Yeung Lai-hung and other teachers. He has participated in the performances of Hong Kong Arts Festival, Chinese Opera Festival, Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong and various opera troupes.

Specializes in civil and military roles, and comic clown roles. In 2010, he graduated from the Guangdong Yueju School [Guangdong Cantonese Opera School], and was then enrolled in the Performance major at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He has participated in the Guangdong Province Spring Festival Opera Gala, the Asian Arts Festival, the National Folk Arts Show, and the opening ceremony of the 2010 Asian Games. He won the Guangdong Provincial Gold Award in the 2006 National Youth Quyi Contest. In 2008, he also won the Gold Award in the Youth Selection Competition of the Rising Star of Quyi, and the Award of Excellence in the King of Xiaoqu Contest in 2010. He is currently a member of The Young Academy Cantonese Opera Troupe in Hong Kong.

In 2003, Leung Sum-yee began to learn Cantonese opera skills with her first teacher Cheung Po-wah, and in 2005, she also started to practice singing with the famous actor Lam Kam-tong. In 2009, she joined the Course for Young Cantonese Opera Performers offered by the Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong (run by the Chinese Artists Association). In 2011, she was accepted by the famous actress Wan Fai-yin as her disciple. In 2012, she was admitted to the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong and was awarded the "HKU Foundation Scholarships for Outstanding Students". She obtained the Bachelor of Laws degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong in 2016 and 2017 respectively, and a Practising Certificate as a lawyer in 2020. Enrolled in the School of Chinese Opera of  Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2020, she was awarded the "Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence 2020/2021 and 2021/2022" and "Grantham Scholarships" by the Hong Kong SAR Government during her studies, and was selected to receive the honor of "Ten Outstanding Tertiary Student Awards” in Hong Kong in 2021. Then she obtained the Higher Diploma in Cantonese Opera from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2022. Over the year, she has participated in performances and promotional activities of public and private opera troupes of various scales, including large-scale performances such as the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Chinese Opera Festival, and exchange performances among Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau.

Graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Postgraduate Certificate in Chinese Opera, Chan Kei-ting was awarded a scholarship by the Hongkong Bank Foundation to further her pursuits in Beijing. Her skills are basically inherited from her godfather, Lam Kam-tong. In 2016, she participated in the "Cantonese Opera Young Talent Showcase" of the Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong, and was selected as one of the "Rising Stars of Cantonese Opera (West Kowloon Xiqu Centre)" in the same year. In 2018, she joined the Tea House Rising Stars Troupe at West Kowloon Cultural District Xiqu Centre as a female role performer, and she is also a member of the Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupe.

Specializes in the female role in her performances. She learned from Leung Ming-sun, Leung Siu-sum, Lui Hung-kwong, Hon Yin-ming and Wong Wai-ling. She is currently participating in performances of various troupes, and has performed in Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, the United States and other places. The titles she has performed included When Swallows Return, The Reunion by a White Hare, Roar of the Lion and The Double-pearl Phoenix. She is currently a member of the "Cantonese Opera Young Talent Showcase" at the Yau Ma Tei Theatre Venue Partnership programme.

Dr Choo Heng-cheong was born in the city of Ipoh (Malaysia) in 1927. His father, Choo Ga-lok, and two elder brothers, Ngai-kong and Siu-cheung, were renowned Cantonese opera musicians. The three brothers, known as the “Big Three of the Choo’s”, together with their sister Choo Sau-ying, a Cantonese opera actress who played huadan (young maiden) and chousheng (male clown) roles, formed the Choo family. Dr Choo started learning musical instruments and accompaniment as a child. 

He started to learn various musical instruments and Cantonese opera accompaniment from childhood, and is adept at playing, specifically, violin, and percussion instruments. Dr Choo made his stage debut when he was only nine years old, and became a chief music leader at the age of thirteen. He moved to Hong Kong in 1959 and practiced accompaniment for The Reincarnation of the Red Plum staged by Sin Fung Ming Troupe. He was the music leader and oversaw the recording for Yam Kim-fai and Pak Suet-sin’s timeless albums The Flower Princess, Legend of the Purple Hairpin and The Reincarnation of the Red Plum. He was also involved in the production of more than a hundred albums of Cantonese opera while working as a music leader for many record companies including Crown and Tien Shing. In the 1960s Dr Choo became the music leader and, at the same time, mentor for the Chor Fung Ming troupe members and professionalized operatic dramas with his newly-designed tunes, until 1992 when the troupe was disbanded. In the meantime, he was also appointed music leader of other opera troupes including Tai Lung Fung, Hing Sun Sing, Chung Sun Sing and Sun Ma. In 1993, Dr Choo was again invited to take up the role of music leader by the newly-founded Hing Fung Ming Opera Troupe.

Wong Shing-chuen Leonard worked as a member of the senior management in a large business company. He is currently a chief music leader and Cantonese opera music teacher. He started to learn and enhance his violin techniques and Cantonese opera accompaniment skills from Choo Heng-cheong, a famous Cantonese opera maestro. Mr Wong has been the music leader or a member of the band for numerous opera troupes and organizations starting from the 1980s. Being a part-time lecturer for courses offered by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hong Kong Metropolitan University (formerly the Open University of Hong Kong), Mr Wong has dedicated much of his efforts in instructing students about Cantonese opera accompaniment, singing styles and appreciation. He is also one of the examiners of the Cantonese opera exam, and Assessment Panel Member for Hong Kong Arts Development Council and for Subvented Performance Projects (Cantonese Opera Development Fund). Embarking on the preservation of Cantonese opera-related historical records, singing styles and skills, Mr Wong has also been sharing thought-provoking talks and seminars in the university setting, and through these he wants to enrich and inspire ideas about understanding the art form’s historical development. He has also been involved in Cantonese Opera compilation and training, for example, The Life and Art of Choo Heng-cheong [2010] (author) and Famous Names of Cantonese Opera in the Contemporary Age [2011] (editor). On top, he has also been giving talks and roundtables concerning operatic films to the public at the Hong Kong Film Archive.

In 2001, Chen Yan-feng entered Guangdong Yueju School [Guangdong Cantonese Opera School] to learn percussion skills. After graduation, in order to further improve his craft, he came to Hong Kong to apply to the Postgraduate Diploma programme in Opera Music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Subsequently he learned percussion skills from Sung Heung-man, and learned the knowledge of opera music theories and accompaniment skills from teachers such as Ng Lut-kwong, Luo Qinger and Chow Sze-sum.

After graduating in 2016, he was hired as the percussion leader of the Young Academy Cantonese Opera Troupe, participating in different performances and promotions in various schools. In order to further enhance his skills, during the period he also actively participated in performances of major Cantonese opera troupes, and was fortunate to be guided by famous maestros such as Choo Heng-cheong, Ko Yun-kuen and Chan Siu-lung.
