Vertixe Sonora is a leading Spanish ensemble of prominent soloists offering an open space for reflection, discussion, and exchange in the field of contemporary music. The ensemble was founded in 2011, and since then it has commissioned over three hundred new works by emerging as well as established composers and is constantly presenting its projects at the most important concert halls and music festivals around the world, including tours in Asia, North America, South America and Europe. The ensemble has been awarded with several prizes, has published three albums, and their work has been featured in three documentaries.

From the region of Galicia, Vertixe Sonora emerged as a music platform for creation, recreation and promotion of new projects and concepts. Their diversified programs are a dynamic part of the European musical ecosystem and has become an integral part of the Spanish cultural life, their commitment of premiering new works has allowed their audience to experience a wide and varied range of artistic proposals within the international sound creation scene and has made of Vertixe Sonora an irreplaceable partner of a young generation of local and international composers.

Out of an appreciation for inclusive and diverse approaches to sound, the ensemble provides a constant dialogue and interaction with philosophy, science, technology and diverse forms of contemporary art through a cosmopolitan, inclusive, and cross-cultural perspective to avant-garde music.

Vertixe Sonora founded the Galician Institute of Sonology (IGS) and since 2021, holds the Spanish Section of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM).
