Multi-disciplinary artist Samson Young works in sound, performance, video, and installation. In 2017 he represented Hong Kong at the 57th Venice Biennale. He was the recipient of the BMW Art Journey Award, a Prix Ars Electronica Award of Distinction in Sound Art and Digital Music, and the inaugural Sigg Prize (2019). He has exhibited at venues such as the Guggenheim Museum, New York; Gropius Bau, Berlin; Performa 19, New York; Biennale of Sydney; Shanghai Biennale; National Museum of Art, Osaka; National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul; Ars Electronica, Linz; and documenta 14: documenta radio, among others.

Recent solo projects include: the De Appel, Amsterdam; Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf; Talbot Rice Gallery, Edinburgh; SMART Museum, Chicago; Centre for Contemporary Chinese Art, Manchester; M+ Pavilion, Hong Kong; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Ryosoku-in at the Kenninji Temple, Kyoto; Monash University Museum of Art, Melbourne; and Jameel Art Centre, Dubai, among others.

Samson Young studied music, philosophy and gender studies. He was Hong Kong Sinfonietta’s Artist Associate in 2008, and graduated with a Ph.D. in Music Composition from Princeton University in 2013.

Bobo Lee is a Producer for Performing Arts (Theatre) at the West Kowloon Cultural District. She is the curator and producer of The Future of Performance series, including A Thousand Plateaus (VR, experiential audio), Bright Day (exploration of sound and the subconscious) and Presence (game control programming, telepresence). In addition to producing, she participates in the development of West Kowloon’s artistic direction and strategies for Theatre Arts. Lee has worked across moving images, music, theatre and new media art for over 20 years. Before joining West Kowloon, she worked in a number of major arts and cultural institutions, including the Hong Kong Arts Centre, Videotage, Zuni Icosahedron and the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong.

Yuen Cheuk-wa is the Acting Dean and Head of Media Design & Technology in the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). An award-winning sound designer with 20 years’ experience in theatre production and technical development, Yuen has an MFA in Sound Design from the California Institute of The Arts and an MSc in Architectural Acoustics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He founded the Interstage series of concerts at the HKAPA in 2018, and was co-curator of Jazz Imaginarium for the West Kowloon Cultural District in 2020. His major works include Primary Shapes: an Eternal Golden Braid (Hong Kong Arts Festival) and Dragon’s Treasure (City of Dreams, Macau).

Kinphen Leung is a Hong Kong based theatre lighting designer working in lighting design and programming, production management and theatre education. He has a BFA (Hons) in Lighting Design from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and is currently pursuing an MA in Intercultural Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Leung is a theatre educator at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
 

Kaki Lai graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a BFA (Hons) in Theatre and Entertainment Arts (majoring in Lighting Design). Lai’s lighting design work includes Medea and Dust and Dawn (HKAPA), The Verdict and Go Lion! Goal! 2021 (Theatre Space), Deep Edge and Impetus (E-Side Dance Company), and Songs of Our Children (Every Life Is A Song). Lai’s video design work includes The Originals, Interstage 2018: Tang Siu-hau Inner Strength Concert (HKAPA), The Amazing Filmphony – Music by Leon Ko (Hong Kong Sinfonietta) and The Ward  (Hong Kong Repertory Theatre).

Gut Lam graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a BFA in Sound System Design, and is currently active in the field of sound engineering. Alongside his production work, Lam is a co-founder of NATP and Nocere & Co., a collaboration exploring the boundaries of audio-visual installations in immersive spaces. His work focuses on cross-disciplinary visual and sonic media, elevating the unique aesthetics of light and sound into immersive performances and installations.

Caesar Seto started his journey in the arts and entertainment industry in 2015. He holds a BFA (Hons) in Theatre and Entertainment Arts from the Hong Kong Academy of Art, where he specialised in Sound. During his studies he worked on a number of new media art projects and participated in various showcases as sound designer and sound engineer. Seto’s key media art and installation projects include 420 Bad Trip (2018/19), 2020 (2019/20), Moan (2021) and Sunset Concert (2021). He recently collaborated as sound designer with emerging choreographer and independent dancer Terry Tsang on the showcase Mo4 Ngaan5 Tai2 – Juk6 Presentation with Jockey club New Arts Power.

Local sound designer Jaycee Kwok graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, College of Theatre and Entertainment Arts in 2011, where he majored in Sound Design. Since graduating, Jaycee has collaborated with a number of theatre companies and cultural organisations including, Kearen Pang Production, Chung Ying Theatre Company, Hong Kong Arts Festival, The Radiant Theatre, Windmill Grass Theatre and Hong Kong Repertory Theatre. In 2020, he was awarded “Best Sound Designer” at the Hong Kong Drama Awards for his sound design work in A Dream Like a Dream.

Costume designer and scenic artist Tiffany Lau has worked in theatre production since 2011. She graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a BA in Fine Art (First Class Hons, major scenic art) and was Head Scenic Artist for the HKAPA graduation project Luna Gale (2018) (recognised at the Hong Kong Drama Awards as Outstanding Production of the Year 2018–2019). Lau was curator of Touch As First Touch at CCCD Touch Art Space, and creative coordinator for the productions Freespace x Edward Lam Dance Theatre: Hello, Baoyu and Rimini Protokoll: 100% Hong Kong. She is currently creative coordinator, Performing Arts (Theatre) at the West Kowloon Cultural District.

Hong Kong pianist Colleen Lee achieved international recognition after winning 6th Prize at the 2005 International Chopin Piano Competition in Poland. She has performed extensively around the world in solo recitals and with orchestras, and made her debut with the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle in 2019. Lee studied under Professor Eleanor Wong at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and with Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover. She is currently Honorary Artist-in-Residence at the Education University of Hong Kong, and a member of the piano faculty at HKAPA and Hong Kong Baptist University.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Linus Fung is a versatile clarinetist and a core member of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble. Since 2016 he has performed at a number of festivals and arts events, including Shanghai New Music Week, Seoul International Computer Music Festival and Hong Kong Arts Festival. Fung has played clarinet with the renowned Wuji Ensemble and Freespace Ensemble, and given numerous solo recitals in Macau, Shantou, Manchester and Hong Kong, including a full-length recital in LCSD’s recent Our Music Talents Series. Fung is also clarinetist with the LENK Quartet, established in 2021 by veteran pianist Nancy Loo.
