Lunar New Year Holiday Special: Handicraft Workshops (For district organisations)

Xiqu Centre Studio

Overview

Handicraft lovers, not only can you make your own wreath this X’mas, there’s lots more in store for the Lunar New Year!

Description

This Lunar New Year, the Xiqu Centre is hosting three free-of-charge workshops for families in the Yau Tsim Mong community. Embellish your home with DIY traditional Chinese decorations and welcome the Year of the Rabbit in style!

The lion dance, a fixture at Chinese festivals including the New Year, brings good luck and prosperity. At the Paper Lion Head Workshop, you can make your own mini paper lion head to wish for vibrant days ahead. Meantime at Mr Lam Chi’s Name Seal Carving Workshop, you can breathe life into stones by carving your own personalised seal stamp under the guidance of a professional. While at the Mini Flower Plaque Workshop, you can learn the ropes of one of Hong Kong’s Intangible Cultural Heritage and create your mini version of a festive flower plaque.

Registration is open to Yau Tsim Mong based registered non-profit making organisations only. Children between the ages of 6 and 11, accompanied by an adult guardian, are welcome to participate in the workshops and bring their creations home.

These events are sponsored by the Yau Tsim Mong District Office of the Home Affairs Department.
