SerendiCity: Robert Seidel – Petrichor

Freespace

Overview

Immerse yourself in a dream-like natural world transformed by projections, soundscapes and artificial mist

Description

In spring 2023, experience the Art Park’s Dry River Bed transformed by Berlin-based artist Robert Seidel’s site-specific environmental installation Petrichor.

Named after the scent of rain falling on dry earth, Petrichor reshapes the natural environment with ephemeral visions of dream-like weather phenomena and hybrids between nature and the digital. Combining Seidel’s abstract video projections with ambient soundscape by Nikolai von Sallwitz and choreographed artificial mist, the immersive installation generates a series of vibrant patterns and semi-holographic organic forms that shift and change as the audience explores the setting.

Petrichor is the latest work in a series of site-specific video installations that Seidel has created for various institutions in Europe, Asia and the USA.

Petrichor is presented as part of SerendiCity – a media arts festival showcasing new perspectives on art, urban environments, people and technology.
